Since yesterday I have been working on my website, sending notes to request feedback from fellow Internet Money Club students, reading forum messages from others who are doing the same, getting encouragement from their replies to my questions. The interaction has been amazing and so beneficial!
This experience as well as my unexpected reply to a fellow student, lead me to this reflexion. As I often do in my Journal, I quickly write what comes to mind and it instantly catches my attention: this time I wrote “I am not alone and nor are you!”
“You are not alone.”
It defines the sense of community we need to feel in order to help ourselves overcome struggles and challenges. Whether we actually ask for help or not, just knowing that we are not alone, makes all the difference. Realizing that others have gone through similar situations, hearing about their experiences and possibly learning from these, allows us to move forward. Words of encouragement are also tremendously supportive gifts from the heart. The sense of community brings us out of isolation and into a feeling of belonging, of being part of a team capable of supporting us at the very least emotionally.
I wrote in my journal about this tonight. I thought of how important it has been for me throughout my life to know that I am not alone. I have gone through several difficult periods of isolation, each one of these remedied through writing and talking and seeking support.
I always suggest to start by writing in your Journal. Identifying the feeling of isolation, understanding that you are not alone going through such a struggle and searching for ways to break out of loneliness, are the first steps to finding the sense of community that will encourage you to persevere. Even if it means getting out of your comfort zone, writing about it presents no risks! Try it.
