When bad things happen and get me down, my first reaction is to complain, to worry, to stress out over the situation and future implication.
This is a normal reaction you may have yourself when you are disappointed, frustrated, sad or angry. It’s okay. At the very least, it helps you release tension…
The next normal reaction should be to get back up, to see the situation for what it is and to find solutions to make it better. It may take some time, depending on the issues at hand, but soon enough, your thoughts and mindset should start guiding you towards the solutions instead of staying in the ditch.
I see, meet and talk with many people who have not been able to see the value in making that effort to change their mindset. I find it very sad. They always complain, they see the bad side of everything, they are constantly in a state of unhappiness. This, I believe, attracts even more of the unpleasant situations, therefore creating a bad cycle that just keeps getting worse.
Although I would love more than anything to give these individuals a hand to get them out of the hole, they need to do it on their own.
What do you do when you fall?
How do you get out of your bad situations?
Your mindset is the first thing that you need to work on in order to start making changes in your life. If you can’t make a list of Ideas for your path, if you have your list but have no clue where to start, if you are paralyzed by fear or any other excuse to not make a Decision and Commit to change, your priority should be to work on your mindset.
I realize positive thinking is cliche. Some suggestions about positive thinking have become laughable and I understand why certain people find that it doesn’t work. To me, changing your mindset goes beyond superficial positive thinking. It takes stopping yourself at each negative thought and replacing it by something like Gratitude or solution based thought. This very simple correction in your thought process, makes a world of difference in your ability to move forward.
Take one day, today, to listen to your thoughts. What are they saying? Write in your Journal and see what kind of thoughts come out. Is there room to turn your thoughts to a more positive mindset? How do you think this will help you move forward with your list of Ideas for your Path?
If you are stuck at any level, this is where you should start.
Work on your mindset today. It works!
