This title was offered to me by my friend Peter. Thanks Peter!
Let’s see how well I address it!
Yes indeed, bad things can happen to good people. I’ve seen it, I’ve lived it. Peter has been through a lot more than I have. He has seen violence and injustice. He has written about the horror of civil unrest in Zimbabwe in TheNewHappyMe comments, to share with us how we can all overcome challenges, just as he has. He was a very successful farmer when his life took a bad turn, he was detained for no reason and had all his assets taken away from him. Peter had to restart a life in a new country. Since then he has also overcome health issues and has learned and grown through it all. There has been no shortage of obstacles in his life. ( http://peterwrightsblog.com/about/ ).
Bad things can happen to good people.
My father as well has experienced a similar Journey. Having lost his first wife to illness and having escaped Egypt during the socialist modernization of Nasser’s government, he emigrated to Canada with only a suitcase in hand. Bad things can happen to good people.
In my day job, I see families dealing with the serious illness of a child. Bad things can happen to good people.
So what do I make of this… Only that these are the very challenges that make us who we are today and who we will become tomorrow. They strengthen us, allow us to use the courage we hold within us to face each obstacle as they are thrown at us, to have justice prevail, to make sure love and faith stay alive within us. We are invited to spread the energy of good even though we seem to be surrounded by negativity.
Times can be tough, situations may weigh us down, but here are the very opportunities that push us to stand up and do what we need to do to move forward on our path. Circumstances invite us to show the power of good, of love, of faith, of courage and of strength. Dare I say… Happiness comes from being proud of such amazing accomplishments, of standing tall when the elements could have easily had us down on our knees!
Yes Bad things can happen to good people… but good people have what it takes to show everyone what being happy is all about!
